Appointed Director General of the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) by H.E. the President of the Republic Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, in his presidential ordinances appointing representatives in public companies and institutions on August 31, 2022, Dr. Mwamba Kazadi Dieudonné is not an unknown figure in the public health and disease control sector, epidemics and other health emergencies in the DRC. 

Dr. Mwamba Kazadi Dieudonné is recognized by the hierarchy and his colleagues as the personality who embodies the continuity that the INSP needs. Mwamba Kazadi holds a doctorate in medicine, surgery and childbirth from the University of Lubumbashi in 2001. He holds a Master's degree in Public Health (2006) and a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Epidemiology (DEA) from the University of Kinshasa (2015), PhD student at the University of Montreal (PhD) option "global health" (2020), with a particular interest in health security, One Health, community engagement, health policy and pandemic preparedness in fragile health systems.

In the structure of the Ministry of Public Health, Hygiene and Social Welfare, the now first Director General of the INSP has risen almost all the ladders before starting his career at the INSP. He worked as Medical Director of the General Referral Hospital of Mikalayi in Kasaï Central from 2001-2004, Chief Medical Officer of the Kananga Zone from 2004-2005, Chief Medical Officer of the Lukonga Zone from 2005-2007, Chief Medical Officer of the Epidemiological Surveillance Division at the Directorate of Disease Control (DLM) at the Ministry of Health from 2007-2018 until becoming Director General of the Directorate General for Disease Control (DGLM), a position he held from 2020 to 2022 before being appointed on August 31, the first Director General of the INSP in the history of the DRC. He is also the Country Director of the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP).

The DG of the INSP also has to his credit several on-the-job training courses followed at home and abroad, particularly in integrated disease surveillance and response (IDSR), field epidemiology, One Health approach, etc. Over the years, he has acquired considerable experience in the coordination of several epidemics including cholera, measles, yellow fever, poliomyelitis, the Ebola virus disease in the country and in Guinea Conakry and Mpox. He is a trainer in Ebola outbreak management in Côte d'Ivoire and several other countries in West Africa. 

Committed to health equity and system resilience, Dieudonné Mwamba remains an influential voice in the African health landscape and advocates for stronger regional collaboration on surveillance and response to health emergencies, laboratory capacity, and health workforce training.
